The more significant challenges that I face are staff burnout, high turnover of RNs and MHPs, and a lack of support as the leader of the mental health team. Institutions can better support me by increasing my salary moderately and the MHPs' salaries. Better medical and dental benefits and tuition reimbursement would be critical because I am pursuing a doctorate in graduate school. Lastly, adding quarterly bonuses and higher retention bonuses at least twice a year would be beneficial.

Not being hired because of racism and ageism. The nurse shortage is self inflicted. I don’t believe we have a nurse shortage mainstream nurses are not willing to accept the terms of being overworked and underpaid.

I believe and I know that understaffing compromises patient safety. Hospitals are trying to save money but one litigation can erase that savings.

Facilities not utilizing telepsychiatry services that allow for less disruptions and increased quality in the services provided. Even better with smart and better educated MAs being paid decent salaryl
